Man Struck, Killed By Train In Bethesda Was Suicide: Wmata

A pedestrian died by suicide in a train strike Sunday evening, April 14 in Bethesda, WMATA officials said.

The unidentified man walked beyond the end gate a the North Bethesda station and intentionally placed himself in the path of the train at approximately 8 p.m., a spokesperson for the agency said.

Emergency personnel responded, however, there were no signs of life and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Red Line trains temporarily bypassed the station due to the emergency response and shuttle buses were provided for affected customers. Service resumed to the station just before 9 p.m.
